Merry Christmas and 2019 Recap

Merry Christmas and 2019 Recap

With Christmas and new year around the corner, I wanted to take a moment and thank all my clients this past year! Many were repeat lenders and clients but I also connected with many new realtors, homeowners and attorney firms this past year. I also appreciate all referrals sent my way!

As this year winds down, the biggest surprise as I look back was the downward pressure on mortgage rates in the spring. While not shocked, I was surprised by that downward movement and was curious to observe the real estate market last spring as rates rose and signs showed to a slowing market. I guess we’ll have to wait and see what this year holds.

As next year begins, I’m most interested in monitoring the home insurance situation that continues to impact many in the foothills. For those not in tune, this is due to all the fires in CA over the past few years. Consequently, home insurance costs have increased extensively (beyond affordable at times) with many companies also simply dropping coverage. Many have been forced to resort to the CA Fair plan association to obtain coverage. Continued increased costs can’t continue and are sure to have a breaking point sometime (good or bad).  I’ve spoke to a handful agents who have had buyers walk away from deals due to high insurance costs. This situation has various layers to it and a continues to be a hot topic in the real estate market.  Stay tuned.

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and New Year to everybody!
